President Berlusconi, the “piduista” stated, in a threatening and unacceptable tone for a State based on the rule of law, that there are magistrates who work in certain Public Prosecutor’s Offices, who are investigating on mafia massacres only to conspire against him. Public institutions – the ones who have not been contaminated by organized crime – and the healthy part of society cannot accept this kind of intimidation.
Since the massacres of Capaci and Via D’Amelio we have been waiting to know the truth about Falcone and Borsellino’s murders; we want to know why the mafia used a military like strategy to create tension by placing bombs in Rome, Florence and Milan; we are waiting to find out if pieces and parts of corrupt government institutions _ who still operate in this country alongside a “P2” which never died and who is now stronger than ever – negotiated with Cosa Nostra; we wish to understand if there is a link between the end of the military strategy adopted by the mafia and the beginning of political careers for people like Dell’Utri and Berlusconi and the birth of their political party Forza Italia; we demand to know who took Paolo Borsellino’s red diary; we intend to discover who fostered the institutionalization of the mafia and consolidated its penetration within the economy and the State.
Now, let’s get to the point: why is Berlusconi threatening magistrates who are conducting difficult and dangerous investigations? Is he thinking of creating the conditions to isolate those who work for the State in favour of highly refined institutional minds? Is he sending messages to someone? I don’t know what the future holds – I’ve lived these slimy institutional plots on my own skin, I’ve seen them unfold before me – but I am certain that many of us will keep watch to allow our magistrates and the police forces to work without illicit obstacles being placed along their path, obstacles which would prevent Italians from knowing the truth, perhaps a terrible truth which will allow us to understand why a large handful of leaders of a coup dressed in smocks intend to subvert the institutions of the Italian republic.
