(VIDEO ALL’INTERNO e traduzione in inglese) Prendo la mia agenda rossa senza la quale mi sentirei veramente nudo. Soprattutto in questa piazza che per me ha un significato particolare perché in questa piazza, io ho cominciato nel 2009 a parlare dopo tanti anni di silenzio, ho cominciato a parlare e da allora è cominciata la nostra lotta. Allora non avevo ancora l’Agenda Rossa in mano. A poco a poco è venuto… sono venuti tanti altri incontri in tutte le parti d’Italia e tanti giovani e meno giovani hanno cominciato ad alzare la loro Agenda Rossa. A poco a poco è nato questo Movimento che in qualche maniera oggi fa paura a qualcuno se è vero che questa manifestazione di cui abbiamo dato comunicazione a tutta la stampa, a tutti gli organi d’informazione è stata coperta da un completo silenzio, neanche giornali come Repubblica hanno pubblicato qualcosa, e nessuno ha pubblicato neanche un trafiletto. Ci si è messa anche la pioggia, ma a noi non importa, noi lotteremo anche contro la pioggia. Oggi è una giornata per me bellissima, ed è bellissima soprattutto perché oggi come a piazza Farnese quattro anni fa sono insieme con Sonia Alfano con la quale abbiamo insieme combattuto tante lotte, sono insieme con Benny Calasanzio… e abbiamo cominciato insieme tante cose, quindi oggi per me è quasi una giornata anche di festa, anche di festa soprattutto perché rivedo tanti amici tanti compagni di lotta. Ma soprattutto e scusate se in qualche maniera io faccio qualche cosa di nepotistico, non posso non essere felice che oggi qui insieme a me ci sia anche mia figlia Stella e Massimiliano suo marito, e sono felice di averli oggi qui insieme a me. Quello che può essere oggi ve lo voglio leggere attraverso quello che significa per me oggi… ve lo voglio leggere attraverso un sms che stamattina ho trovato sul mio telefonino, perché esattamente esprime il senso di questa giornata. E’ di un ragazzo che ho conosciuto da poco, si chiama Marco ed è di Pesaro, e mi ha scritto:
“Caro Salvatore, allora ci si vede domani, è un peccato essere felice solo a metà nel rivedere una persona cara. Perché il rivedersi è legato ad eventi tragici. Il nostro conoscerci e dovuto a tragedie avvenute non solo nel 92 ma che si perpetuano ogni giorno con la volontà di affossare di alcuni, di non ricordare di altri, o di volere a tutti i costi fare dimenticare. Domani saremo là, chissà con quanta speranza, felici a metà ma incazzati per intero.”
Noi oggi siamo, siamo felici perché ci ritroviamo ancora una volta tanti, insieme come in tante battaglie che abbiamo combattuto a Palermo e non solo, in tante città d’Italia. Siamo incazzati per intero.
Siamo incazzati per intero perché siamo qui per due motivi, per sostenere i magistrati di Palermo, che finalmente stanno portando alla luce quella congiura del silenzio che per vent’anni è pesata su questo paese e siamo qui incazzati perché a fronte di questa ricerca delle verità di questi magistrati, mentre noi ci saremmo aspettati dalla più alta istituzione dello stato che venisse spianata la strada per la verità, la strada della giustizia. Invece inaspettatamente è arrivato proprio dalla più alta istituzione della Repubblica quasi un macigno sulla strada della verità, perché questo significa quel conflitto di attribuzioni che è stato sollevato dal Presidente della Repubblica. Il presidente della Repubblica avrebbe dovuto essere stato intercettato mentre telefonava ai magistrati di Palermo per dire andate avanti sulla strada della verità, spianate la strada alla verità, togliete dalla nostra coscienza questo peccato originale che pesa su questa seconda Repubblica. E invece è stato intercettato mentre, mentre che cosa? Mentre non sappiamo che cosa, perché ci hanno detto che queste intercettazioni non sono penalmente rilevanti. Però innanzitutto perché è stato sollevato questo conflitto di attribuzione quando in altre due occasioni il Presidente della Repubblica è stato intercettato non era stata sollevata nessuna obiezione. Io posso capire, che non ci sono come hanno detto i magistrati di Palermo sicuramente cose penalmente rilevanti in quelle intercettazioni, allora perché questo panico, perché quest’ansia di volere, di evitare che queste intercettazioni vengano alla luce. Che cosa contengono queste intercettazioni? Forse dei giudizi sui magistrati di Palermo, forse dei giudizi su certi parenti di vittime che si agitano in maniera troppo, tanto da essere giudicati pazzi, o altro, perché cercano disperatamente la verità. Forse è questo che si vuole nascondere?
Io non lo so, non lo credo, non voglio crederlo. Ma allora perché quest’ansia, questo panico?
Io credo che sarebbe dovere del Presidente della Repubblica per fugare anche ogni possibile dubbio, nell’ultimo degli italiani che queste intercettazioni non (incomprensibile) ste cosa sarebbe suo dovere rendere pubbliche queste intercettazioni. Altrimenti se non lo fa, resterà sempre il sospetto dentro di noi che queste intercettazioni possano contenere qualcosa che, anche se non penalmente rilevante, però in qualche maniera possano portare delle ombre su quello che dovrebbe essere il Presidente di tutti gli italiani, sulla più alta della nostre istituzioni.
Oggi ci saranno tante persone che hanno accettato di venire qui, a una manifestazione che abbiamo organizzato in solo sette giorni. E io ringrazio tutti i ragazzi che hanno lavorato insieme a me, abbiamo lavorato fino alle tre di notte per permettervi oggi di essere qui. Ringrazio Angelo, ringrazio Federica, ringrazio Marco, quei ragazzi che in maniera volontaria hanno lavorato insieme e me per arrivare a questo.
oggi ringrazio anche le persone, le personalità che abbiamo invitato, scrittori, giornalisti che abbiamo invitato che hanno lasciato i loro impegni. E qualche volta hanno lasciato anche dei problemi a casa, come la prima persona che parlerà oggi, Manuel Agnelli degli Afterhours, il quale ha lasciato la figlia a casa con la broncopolmonite ed ha accettato di venire a parlare qui oggi con noi. E’ una persona Manuel che ad ogni concerto solleva in alto la sua Agenda Rossa . Ha avuto il premio agenda rossa da noi per il suo impegno. Così fa arrivare a ragazzi che forse l’Agenda Rossa non la vedrebbero mai nella loro vita, fa arrivare questo punto interrogativo sulla storia della nostra Repubblica, sulla storia del nostro paese.

Let me grab my red diary, because I would really feel naked without it. Especially in this particular place that has such an important meaning to me. From here, from this square in 2009 I began to speak out again after many years of silence. And since then our battle together has commenced. Back then I still didn’t have this Red Diary. It grew slowly…we bgan to meet in cities and towns all over Italy. Many youn people as well as many people who aren’t so young, began to lift their Red Diaries high, and a Movement was born, our Movement. Our cause seems to scare a few people, considering the fact that this demostration has had no media coverage whatsoever. Not even a newspaper like Repubblica felt the need to spend a few words to tell italians what we would be doing here today. And it’s raining as well, but this makes no difference to us, it takes a lot more than a little rai to scare this group. Today is a beautiful day for me, beacause today, just like four years ago I’m with Sonia Alfano, she and I have faught many battles together, I’m with Benny Calasanzio…and we both have many things on the go as well. So this is almost a day of celebration for me, a day of celebration because I have the opportunity to reunite with all of you. But mostly this day is important, and I ask you all to excuse me if I somehow sound nepotistic, because I can’t help feeling overjoyed to have my daughter Stella and her husband Massimiliano here with me today, I am so happy that they are with me.
The meaning of this day, the meaning of this day, well I want to read it to you, I want to read a message I found on my cell phone this morning, because it captures and expresses what this momet is all about. It’s from a young man that I met recently. His name is Marco and he’s from Pesaro. This is what he wrote: ‘ Dear Salvatore, I guess we’ll be seeing each other tomorrow. I should feel really happy, but unfortunately the circumstances of our reunion do not allow for such a beautiful emotion to express itself completely, and it’s a pity to only be able to be partially happy in reuniting with a dear friend. Our bond is tied to tragic events. We met eachother because of tragic events that took place in 1992, events that are still alive today. We continue to live this tragedy because of people who seem to have forgotten what happened back then, or better, who have chosen not to remember and because of the will of others to destroy any truth that emerges. Tomorrow we will be by your side, full of hope, as happy as we can be in these circumstances, and with a lot of anger in our hearts.
I think that Marco’s words explain really well the purpose of our being here today.
Today we are happy, we are happy to be here all together, together as always, like we have always been during all of our battles starting from Palermo as well as in so many other cities all over the country. But we are also mad and angry.
We are here because we are angry, we are here for two reasons, to support our magistrates in Palermo, whom are finally shedding a light on the conspiracy that has weighed on this country for twenty years and to express our bewilderment, because infront of these magistrates’ quest for truth we expected the highest office of the State to support these judges in persuing the road to freedom. Instead, in a most unexpected manner, a huge obstacle was placed on their path, and it was put there by the person we trusted most, by the highest office of this Republic. This is what the President of the Republic did when he appealed to the Constitutional Court claiming he had been a victim of conflict of duty. The President of the Republic should have been intercepted on the telephone while calling magistrates in Palermo to tell them to carry on with their work, to find the road that leads to the truth, to lift this country from the weight of this original sin that is crusching us and the second Republic we live in. But instead he was intercepted while saying what? We don’t konow what. We were told that his conversations are not relavent to any kind of penal accusation. But where does the conflict of duty fit in here? Why was is not brought forth in the other two intances in which the President of the Republic was intercepted? Magistrates said that there is nothig that can be considered of penal relevancy in those conversations, and I can understand this. So why is he panicking, why the anxiety? Why is he desperately trying to hide these conversations? What was said during those phone calls? Were judgements passed on magistrates from Palermo?
Were there comments made on the victims’ relatives, on relatives that are maybe to active in searching for the truth, active enough to be labelled as crazy? Is this what is being hidden?
I don’t know, I don’t think this, I don’t want to believe such things. But I can’t help asking what all the panic and the anxiety are about?
What I do believe is that it is necessary to eliminate every possible doubt in all of our minds, in every citizen’s mind, therefore the President of the Republic needs to reveal the content of those phone calls.
If this should not happen, should those telephone calls be destroyed ,well, it would be like casting a showdow over the figure of President of the Republic. Doubt will forever linger on in the minds of all the italians he represents. Everyone will ask themselves what the real content of those phone calls was.
For these reasons many people have accepted to be here today, at a demonstration we organized in only seven days. I would like to thank all the friends that worked with me to make this happen. I would like to thank Angelo, Federica and Marco and all the volunteers. I also wish to thank all the people, the personalities, authors and journalists who we invited and who accepted to participate despite their busy schedules. Some of them even struggled with personal problems to be here, just like the first person who is going to speak today did, Manuel Agnelli from the Afterhours, left his daughter at home with a pneumonia to come and speak from this stage, to be with us today. At every one of his concerts Manuel raises his Red Diary high up toward the sky. He received the Red Diary Movement award from us for his commitment. By doing this Manuel reaches an incredible number of young people who would otherwise probably never even see a Red Diary. He helps our quest for truth reach the entire country.
